Minister Annen reiterated Germany’s consistent policy of valuing cooperation with Southeast Asia and increasing its presence in the region, in which Vietnam continues to be a high priority.

Deputy Minister Dung said Vietnam treasures the cooperation with Germany and welcomes Germany’s closer ties with ASEAN. Vietnam hopes that Germany will help ASEAN build a strong community and deal with rising challenges, Mr. Dung added.

Minister Annen said Germany is closely following the situation in Myanmar and is concerned about the instability and escalating violence there. Germany backs ASEAN’s efforts in this regard and expects the bloc to continue playing its role to help facilitate dialogues and seek solutions.

According to Deputy Minister Dung, Vietnam is working closely with ASEAN members to find a solution while calling for restraint, dialogue, and reconciliation so as to bring the situation in Myanmar back to normal.
