(VOVWORLD) - Croatia is set to adopt the euro at the beginning of 2023 after meeting all the criteria to join the eurozone, the European Commission announced Wednesday.

Croatia will be the 20th European country to use the currency after 10 years of application.

In April, the 12-month average rate of inflation in Croatia was 4.7%, which is below the reference value of 4.9%.  Croatia’s budget deficit was 2.9% of GDP in 2021, which fulfils the deficit criterion of being below 3% of GDP.
