HCM city, the epicenter of the ongoing wave of coronavirus in Vietnam, continued to lead the caseload with more than 1,700 of the latest infections, followed by Binh Duong (368) and Tay Ninh (186). Hanoi recorded 4 new cases.
More than 4.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across Vietnam.
From Monday evening, people in Ho Chi Minh city must stay home between 6 pm and 6 am the next day, according to Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong.
He told a meeting on Sunday evening that during the past 17 days of social distancing under Directive 16, the city had nearly 47,000 COVID-19 patients.
“People absolutely cannot go out from 6 pm. All activities will have to be suspended, except for emergency medical care or pandemic fight operations," Phong said. But he insisted that the latest measure is not a curfew.
