The US has the highest number of new infections, followed by France, India, Italy, and Argentina. New infections in the US and Europe now account for more than half of the total number of cases recorded each day worldwide due to the spread of the Omicron variant.

In Chile, the spread of the Omicron variant is causing the country's daily new infections to rise to a record, above 9,200 cases. The Chilean government has urged people to take preventive health measures and get booster shots to better protect themselves.
