(VOVworld) – The construction of the 110 KV undersea cable system linking Ha Tien township and Phu Quoc island in the southern province of Kien Giang will begin late this month and conclude no later than next April.

According to Electricity of Vietnam’s Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC), the cable system is expected to ensure a stable supply of electricity to local residents on Phu Quoc district island and create the compromise for Phu Quoc island to become a special economic zone and eco-tourist attraction. The 56km-long undersea cable is the longest of its kind in Southeast Asia, linking Phu Quoc district’s power network to the national grid. Onshore facilities have already been completed.
