Construction of Lao National Assembly building begins

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Lao National Assembly building, a gift of the Vietnamese Party, State and people.

Speaking at the event in Vientiane on Wednesday, Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Somphanh Phengkhammy said that the new building, which lies across 23,400 sq.m next to Thatluang, a sacred place symbolizing Laos’s solidarity, will become a symbol of friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples.  He expressed his profound gratitude for the Vietnamese Party, State and people for the gift. Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung vowed to direct the two countries’ agencies to ensure that the building will be put into use by 2021 when Laos’s special events are scheduled.
