(VOVWORLD) - The Communist Party of Vietnam is celebrating its 91st founding anniversary. On February 3, 1930, President Ho Chi Minh (whose name was Nguyen Ai Quoc at that time) chaired a meeting in Hong Kong (China) to unify communist party organizations in Vietnam into a single Communist Party of Vietnam.

VOV’s online newspaper has posted articles commemorating the Party’s 91st anniversary and successful 13th National Party Congress. VOV noted that the Party has mapped out new goals and directions for Vietnam’s future development and selected a talented leadership team to meet the challenges. The Congress reaffirmed the path the Party has followed during the past decade as faithful to its principles, appropriate to the reality in Vietnam, and in synch with current development trends.

The 13th National Party Congress was called by foreign and Vietnamese media a landmark event which redefined Vietnam’s development orientation. The Party’s decisions will enjoy public support because these decisions promote the prosperity and happiness of the Vietnamese people.

The “Nhan Dan” (People) newspaper applauded the glorious achievements of the past nine decades, in which the Party adopted policies that upheld Party principles and public interests, promoted great national unity, aspired to rise up, and embraced a strong political will. Led by the Party, Vietnam will soon become a prosperous, strong, democratic, equitable, and civilized nation, advancing steadily toward socialism, and living up to the expectations of President Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese people.

The People’s Army newspaper ran an article praising the Party’s role in promoting national strength. The Party always aims for national independence and socialism, it said.
