(VOVWORLD) -Australians are celebrating their first restriction-free New Year after two years of COVID disruptions and will enjoy record-breaking firework displays in Sydney Harbor.

The experts of Foti Fireworks Company, the organizer of the fireworks show, were working 10 to 12 hours a day to prepare for the light party that has become a symbol of Australia. Within 8 minutes, 8 tons of fireworks will be fired continuously to celebrate the new year.

The people of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, are welcoming the New Year with traditional Samba dances, glasses of Champagne and the fireworks on the Copacabana beach.

In Japan, due to the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, Japanese authorities have tightened regulations to reduce activities in large gatherings. In Tokyo, the countdown event at Shibuya Station has been canceled. However, the bell-ringing ceremony at the temples is still held.

South Korea will resume its annual bell-tolling ceremony to celebrate New Year's Eve after three years of suspension due to COVID-19. The ceremony hosted by the Seoul metropolitan government will take place on Saturday night in Seoul with about 100,000 people attending.
