(VOVWORLD) - Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on Monday wished Catholic dignitaries and followers in Thai Ha diocese in Hanoi a Merry Christmas.

Mr. Chung promised to facilitate the construction of the diocese’s new buildings and urged church dignitaries to work with local authorities.

Can Tho authorities visited and delivered gifts to local Catholic and Protestant followers in Can Tho city. Municipal Party Committee Secretary Tran Quoc Trung encouraged bishops, priests, pastors, Catholic and Protestant dignitaries, and followers to work with local authorities to strengthen national solidarity.

"Bishops need to encourage Catholic followers to contribute to national unity and development," Mr. Trung said. 

Chairman of the Binh Duong People's Committee Tran Thanh Liem visited and delivered Christmas wishes to Bishop Nguyen Tan Tuoc of Phu Cuong diocese and Vice Chairman and Secretary of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics Father Nguyen Van Rien.
