Chinese smartphones have 50% of Vietnam's market share

(VOVWORLD) - With domestic phone brand Vsmart stopping production, Chinese smartphones grabbed a 50% market share in the second quarter of this year in Vietnam, VnExpress cited Counterpoint Research.

Of five prominent Chinese brands, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo accounted for a 45% share, according to the global research firm that specialized in technology, media and telecom.

South Korea’s Samsung and the US’s Apple account for another 44%. 5G-capable smartphones have a 14% share of the market, and it will grow as mobile phone operators are gearing up to launch 5G services, according to Counterpoint.

Vietnam has already started 5G trials, with Viettel becoming the first company to do so.
