China has for the first time announced the nationwide COVID-19 infection situation after relaxing its pandemic restrictions.
According to data posted on the official website of China CDC on Wednesday, around December 22, 2022, the number of COVID-19 infections and visits to fever clinics across China reached their peak with new infections surpassing 7 million and visits to fever clinics reaching 2.87 million on a daily basis, and the number of deaths reached a daily peak of 4,273 on January 4.
The number of severe cases in the country has decreased 72% from its peak, while daily deaths in hospitals decreased 79% to 896 cases on Monday, January 23.
