China pays tribute to victims of plane crash

(VOVWORLD) -China on Sunday held a memorial ceremony in Guangxi province in Southern China for the victims of the plane crash that killed 132 people.

At 2pm, sirens sounded throughout the mountainous area in Tengxian County, the crash site. The entire staff of the national emergency response agency for the accident and the rescue force present at the scene observed a 3-minute silence to remember the victims.

The tragic accident happened on March 21 when a Boeing 737-800 plane of China Eastern Airlines Flight MU5735, departed from Kunming city to Guangzhou city lost contact flying over Wuzhou city in Guangxi province.

The plane was later determined to have crashed into the mountains of Tengxian County. There were 132 people on board, including 123 passengers and 9 crew members.

Chinese officials confirmed that all 132 people on board were killed. Authorities found two black boxes of the plane.
