Celebrations of Buddha’s birthday held online

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Central Committee held an online ceremony to celebrate Buddha’s 2565th birthday on Wednesday with a small gathering due to COVID-19.

A message from Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue, Supreme Head of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, was read at the ceremony, calling for people to support the government’s efforts to overcome the pandemic and contribute to national development.

Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Vice President and  Secretary General of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, highlighted the significance of the ceremony which helps the Buddhist followers express their gratitude to Buddha while showing their solidarity and determination to help Vietnam in the fight against COVID-19.

"The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has launched an app for Buddha bathing on social media Buta and each registration will donate 10,000 VND (0.43 USD) to the Shangha’s COVID-19 Prevention and Control Fund. This money will be presented to the Vietnam Fatherland Front to buy vaccines for Vietnam," said Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien.

Celebrations for Buddha’s birthday were also held online in many localities across Vietnam on Wednesday.
