(VOVworld) – The embassies of ASEAN member countries in New Zealand held a reception to celebrate ASEAN’s 48th anniversary and 40 years of the ASEAN-New Zealand partnership on Tuesday.
Vietnamese ambassador Nguyen Viet Dung, Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Wellington, said that ASEAN has become a comprehensive regional cooperation organization and a cohesive and dynamic political and economic entity. He said that the establishment of a human-centered ASEAN Community by the end of the year will enable ASEAN to confront regional and global challenges more effectively. In July 2013 New Zealand announced its own strategy on relations with ASEAN with specific goals and actions to promote multifaceted cooperation with ASEAN.
