Abdulkadir Abdirrahman, director of medical aid organization Aamin Ambulance, said casualties may be higher as the explosion damaged nearby buildings.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident. Similar attacks in Mogadishu and other localities have been reported to be carried out by terrorist groups related to al-Qaeda.
