According to the preliminary result of the 5th National Assembly vote which was released on Sunday, the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has won again, if less decisively than in the previous election. CPP currently leads the race with 68 to 73 seats. The opposition Cambodia National Salvation Party has 50 to 55 seats. This is a surprising result compared to initial forecasts. 5 seats could go either way. Establishing a government will be difficult given this surprising election result, and the strong disagreement between the two parties concerning the sharing of powers. However, leader of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen will retain his role for the next 5 years as Prime Minister of Cambodia.
