In a letter to European Council President Donald Tusk, Johnson said he accepts the EU decision, but urged EU members to prohibit any further extensions after January 31, 2020.

At a meeting in Brussels on Monday, EU members agreed to postpone Brexit another 3 months, until January 31, 2020. The three-month extension is thought to be sufficient for Johnson to deal with internal issues and get the Brexit deal approved by Parliament.

Parliament rejected Johnson's proposal to hold an early general election on December 12 in order to break the current political impasse.
