Nguyen Van Nhu, an official of the Institute, said after the Lunar New Year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam’s hospitals became seriously short on blood reserves, especially for blood types A and O.

Nhu said this blood donation movement will also promote the tradition of solidarity and helping each other.

“We hope up to 130 of 160 registers will be qualified to donate blood. It used to take us just half a day to complete the taking, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in line with the Prime Minister's Directive on epidemic prevention, we spent the whole day today for blood donation to ensure a safe distance and not overcrowding. We hope that all association branches and their members nationwide will actively participate in the campaign to meet the blood demand of Hanoi and all other localities,” said Nhu.
