At a White House press conference, Biden said that even though the killer’s the motive is unknown, commonsense steps need to be taken now to save lives in the future.

“The United States Senate — I hope some are listening — should immediately pass the two House-passed bills that close loopholes in the background check system. These are bills that received votes of both Republicans and Democrats in the House. This is not and should not be a partisan issue; this is an American issue. It will save lives — American lives — and we have to act,” said President Biden.
The suspect has been identified as 21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa of Arvada. The attack comes less than a week after a gunman in Atlanta, Georgia, attacked three massage businesses, killing 8 people, including 6 Asian women.
