This is the first state visit to Vietnam by the King and Queen of Bhutan since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2012.

According to Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang, the Bhutanese King is scheduled to hold talks with President Cuong; meet with Party General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; as well as attend other important activities.

Vietnam and Bhutan have established a good friendship. The two countries' senior leaders often exchange messages on the occasion of events. They have potential for Buddhist and spiritual tourism and are aiming to cooperate in these fields as well as education and human resource exchange.

Bhutan attaches importance to cooperation with Vietnam in exchanging academic and cultural delegations and promoting people-to-people exchanges at regional and global forums. The two countries often coordinate with each other at multilateral forums.
