At a plenary session in Hanoi on Friday, Committee members voiced concerns over the abuse of the health insurance fund. National Assembly deputy Pham Xuan Thang representing Hai Duong province, said: “Good management of medical equipment will bring benefits to patients. Poor management will burden the health insurance fund. I called on health institutions to self-fund their operations and improve quality of treatment and effective use of the health insurance fund.”

The deputies also discussed the government’s measures to reduce spending of the fund, including fines for delay or refusal to pay health insurance.
