The teleconference connected the Vietnamese Embassy, the Trade Office in the US, and many domestic and foreign businesses and trade centers.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phan The Tuan said that thanks to favorable weather, this year’s lychee output was more than 160,000 tons, of which 1,600 tons will be shipped to the US, Australia, and the EU.

He said Bac Giang sees the US as a potential market with a lot of purchasing power but very strict food safety requirements.

Tuan said he hopes the Vietnamese Embassy will help connect US importers with Vietnamese lychee exporters to trade both fresh and processed lychees and other agricultural products of Bac Giang.

The Bac Giang lychee trademark and geographical indication are protected in eight countries - China, the US, Japan, Australia, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Laos, and Cambodia.

Bac Giang lychees are exported to more than 30 countries and territories.
