Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop told reporters in Sydney on Monday that over 40% of the people currently seeking asylum in Europe were from Syria, and a united front is needed to defeat the terrorist organizations that are driving the displacement of many people. She said 60 countries are providing support to the US-led coalition, adding that more countries can do in terms of supporting the air strikes to stop IS from taking further steps.

Only a handful of European nations are currently conducting air strikes against IS, including France and Britain, as part of the coalition of Western and Arab powers.
