Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has issued a notice confirming the postponement of the Games. The OCA on Friday made the postponement decision during the ongoing Executive Board meeting in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, followed by detailed discussions with the Olympic Committee of China (COC).

It is not yet clear when the Games will be held. The OCA said the new dates for the sporting contest "will be announced at a later date."

Asian media said there is a high chance that this Games will be delayed for one year, similar to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics that was rescheduled in 2021.

The host city of Hangzhou and many other cities in China are experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak with infections surging day by day.
