Asian Cup 2022 qualifiers: Vietnam in Group B with Tajikistan, Maldives, and Afghanistan

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese national women’s football team is in Group B alongside Tajikistan, the Maldives, and Afghanistan, according to the draw for the qualifiers of the 2022 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Asian Cup on Thursday in Malaysia. This group is considered comfortable for the team of coach Mai Duc Chung.

The Vietnamese women team is currently ranked 33rd on the latest FIFA rankings, Tajikistan 135, Maldives 144 and Afghanistan 152.

The AFC have drawn 28 teams into four groups of four, in addition to four groups of three. Defending champion Japan, runner-up Australia and third-place China and hosts India entered the final round have already qualified for the Finals, which will see an additional 12 teams competing for the continent's leading women's national team title.

The ASIAN Cup is scheduled to take place from January 20 to February 6, 2022 in India.
