(VOVworld) – The first ASEAN-US summit opened on Monday in Southern California. The summit discussed ASEAN-US economic cooperation and looked for measures to boost trade and investment after the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement was signed.

A session on security and politics worked on cooperation on strategic and trans-national challenges facing regional countries, including maritime conflicts, human trafficking, terrorism, epidemics and climate change. The US media said the conflict in the East Sea and IS’s expansion of its operation in Southeast Asian region would also top the summit’s agenda.
