The leaders agreed to further ASEAN Community building process by fully implementing the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 adopted at the 27th ASEAN Summit held in 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Summit also agreed to develop a ASEAN Community Vision after 2025 and its attached documents, and beef up ASEAN's joint efforts to narrow the intra-regional development gap and strengthen ASEAN's sustainable development agenda, realizing a cooperative, inclusive Community with no development gap between countries.

Vietnamese Ambassador to ASEAN Nguyen Hai Bang said that since 2015, ASEAN leaders have defined the ASEAN Community as a community of peace, stability, security, prosperity and resilience.

At this summit, ASEAN leaders once again affirmed these criteria, and added new elements such as focusing on people, orienting to serve people, and putting people at the center and as the beneficiary of building and developing the ASEAN Community, Bang said.
