Ministers from the 3 ASEAN partners of Japan, South Korea, and China said the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015 was an important milestone in regional economic integration. They appreciated the AEC master plan leading up to 2025 to turn it into a highly-competitive, united, dynamic market, with people-centered and people-oriented principles. The ministers suggested the East Asia Business Council must enhance regional economic integration.

At the 21st ASEAN consultation meeting with Australia and New Zealand, the ministers spoke highly of the enforcement of the 1st Protocol revising the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand free trade agreement from October, 2015.
