The meeting gathered ASEAN senior defense officials and their counterparts from  China, India, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, the US and Russia.

Deputy Minister Vinh reiterated the ASEAN’s determination to maintain defense cooperation in the context of COVID-19 pandemic.

He said, “This meeting followed major events, including the 37th ASEAN Summit and the East Asian Summit. Vietnam will host the ASEAN Defence Minister’s Meeting-Plus (ADMM Plus) next month, which will be the final major event in Vietnam’s ASEAN Chairmanship Year. I hope these will successfully contribute to ASEAN and its partner countries’ work agenda in 2020.”

Delegates praised Vietnam’s coordinating role as the Chair of ASEAN and passed the conference’s work plan in the 2021-2023 cycle.
