Armernian President concludes Vietnam visit

(VOVworld) - The President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, and his entourage left Hanoi on Friday, successfully concluding his official visit to Vietnam.

(VOVworld) - The President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, and his entourage left Hanoi on Friday, successfully concluding his official visit to Vietnam. During his stay, President Serzh Sargsyan held talks with President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and National Assembly chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung. He also paid courtesy visit to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

During talks between President Sargsyan and the Vietnamese leaders, both sides reached a consensus on directions and measures to boost bilateral cooperation, especially in economics, trade, and investment. They agreed to soon sign treaties, set up legal foundations for bilateral cooperation, establish the mechanism of a Joint Government Committee on economic, trade, scientific and technological cooperation, enhance exchanges in trade and of direct contacts among businesses of both sides to make bilateral ties develop energetically, efficiently, and diversely.

                The two leaders adopt a Joint Statement in Hanoi

Both sides adopted a Joint Statement on the outcomes of President Sargsyan's visit to Viet Nam, which says the two sides acknowledged each other's full market economy status. They also signed cooeprative agreements in many fields such as economics, trade, and science and technology, as well as an exemption of diplomatic and official visas.

The visit took place amid strong developing of Armenian-Vietnamese bilateral ties and the two countries’ marking 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties on July 14th.

During his visit, President Sargsyan also had talks with former Vietnamese students who graduated from Armenian universities, laid wreaths at the monument of Vietnamese martyrs, and President Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum in Hanoi.
