Vessels of An Hai Fishing League begin new fishing season

(VOVworld)- The Fishing League of An Hai commune, Ly Son district, Quang Ngai province organized a fish praying ceremony on Friday. An Hai Fishing League was the first one of its type in Vietnam. After the ritual ceremony, dozens of vessels went off sea for a new fishing season. Nguyen Quoc Chinh is President of An Hai Fishing League: “In 2014, we aims to encourage local fishermen to go fishing in our waters to affirm our sovereignty over the seas and islands. We aim to catch more than 16,000 tons of fish this year and increase people’s awareness about national sovereignty of the seas and islands”.

Last year, the league caught nearly 16,000 tons of fish generating an income of more than 5 million VND per month for each fisherman.
