Speaking at an annual international conference for young researchers on economics and business, held on Wednesday in Hanoi, Hauskrecht said that inflation in Vietnam is quite low and stable. This will give Vietnam more room to maneuver if the United States Federal Reserve (FED) lowers interest rates, he said, recommending that Vietnam stabilize its interest rates and manage its financial and monetary policies in a prudent manner.
According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam belongs to the group of countries with the low inflation rate. Average inflation in the first 9 months of this year was 2.73 percent.
A forecast by the World Bank last month said Vietnam’s economy will grow 7.2% this year, the highest rate in East Asia.
