At Thursday’s interview granted to VOV, the Republic of Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Lee Hyuk said that over the past 25 years both countries have witnessed miraculous development.

“The Republic of Korea has become Vietnam’s biggest foreign investor with a total capital of more than 50 billion USD. Vietnam is the fourth biggest trade partner of Korea. Two-way trade turnover reached more than 45.1 billion USD last year,” said Mr. Lee.

Tourism has seen positive results. Last year nearly 1.75 million people visited the other country, making Vietnam the destination the Koreans have visited most in Southeast Asia. There is an increasing number of Vietnamese tourists and students currently visiting Korea.

Ambassador Lee talked about the future prospects in the bilateral relations: “Although trade and investment have gained major results, the two nations haven’t fully tapped their potential. We should continue to focus on this area of cooperation. Many Korean businesses want to invest or expand investment in Vietnam.”

Ambassador Lee said the Republic of Korea will continue to strengthen win-win relations with Vietnam and boost exchanges between young generations, to lift the strategic partnership to new heights.
