Additional 283 domestic cases of COVID-19 reported in 6 hours, mostly in Bac Giang

(VOVWORLD) -The Ministry of Health announced an additional 283 local coronavirus cases in its 12 noon COVID-19 update on Wednesday, including 82 new cases in five localities over the past six hours. 

Among 82 new cases detected during the past six hours, 52 cases were recorded in quarantine and lockdown areas closely linked to COVID-19 outbreaks at industrial parks in Bac Giang. The remaining 30 cases were documented in Ho Chi Minh City with 20 cases, six in Bac Ninh, three in Ha Tinh and one in Hanoi.

Bac Giang, the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot, registered to add 201 new cases to the national tally of infections. These cases have been detected via  screening tests in lockdown areas in Bac Giang's Viet Yen district in late May.

Vietnam has confirmed 6,327 local infections, including 20 deaths, in 39 cities and provinces nationwide since the virus recurred in late April.

The total number of locally transmitted and imported cases in Vietnam has increased to 9,505. The death toll hit 55.

16 provinces have not recorded any new cases for 14 days. They are Yen Bai, Quang Ngai, Dong Nai, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Quang Nam, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Dak Lak, Nam Dinh, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Son La, Ninh Binh, and Thanh Hoa.
