(VOVworld) – Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai attended a meeting of the Hanoi Women’s Union and the city’s key leaders on Friday. While expressing his wishes to all women on International Women’s Day, he appreciated achievements by the Hanoi Women’s Union and its branches in recent years and urged the Union to successfully organize Women’s Unions’ Congress.

The Da Nang Women’s Union granted awards to outstanding women’s units and launched an emulation campaign to welcome Women’s Unions’ congresses for the 2016-2021 term. The Union has initiated a program to repair and build 100 houses for disadvantaged women.
The Women’s Union of Song Ma district, Son La province, published a book reviewing the history and accomplishments of Song Ma district women’s union from 1953 to 2013.

An “Ao dai” festival was held at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi on Friday to honor International Women’s Day and the vitality of the Ao dai in society. 19 Ao dai collections designed for all people, including old women and men, children and the disabled were introduced. The show involved several female ambassadors and ambassadors’ spouses, artists, and disabled children.

Designer Minh Hanh said: “The show’s titled “Our Ao dai” means that all people can wear Ao dai. The designers want to add new values to the Ao dai. You don’t need to have a perfect body, the Ao dai can help boost your attitude and you’ll feel more confident and proud of yourself.”
