Activities for AO/Dioxin victims underway

(VOVWORLD) - Activities are being held nationwide to acknowledge the 61-year Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam, which began on August 10, 1961.

On Tuesday, 30 AO/dioxin victims and disadvantaged war veterans were presented with gifts at a fundraiser in Da Nang city. Businesses and private donors donated more than 250,000 USD to the fund.

In Da Nang, home to more than 5,000 AO/dioxin victims, including 1,400 children, the Association has raised nearly 7 million USD for AO/dioxin victims and their families so far.

To Nam, Chairman of the Da Nang Association of AO/dioxin victims, said, “The program raised a lot of money, showing the compassion of the community for AO/dioxin victims and the hope of helping them have a better life. We highly appreciate all the donations and hope to receive more help for AO/dioxin victims.”

On Monday, Ho Chi Minh City’s Association of Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin presented 268 scholarships to AO/dioxin victims.
