Acting President attends 1983rd anniversary of Hai Ba Trung uprising

(VOVWORLD) -Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on Friday attended the 1983rd anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung (the two Trung sisters)’s uprising and opened Hai Ba Trung Temple Festival in the Spring of the Year of the Cat, in Me Linh district, Hanoi.

Earlier, Acting President Xuan and other delegates offered incense to pay tribute to the two outstanding heroines of the nation. Speaking at the ceremony, she emphasized that the uprising had great significance, leaving the nation an invaluable legacy. That is when a nation united, stood up and resolutely fought to regain freedom and independence for their fatherland, no force could win over it.

“The solemn organization of the 1983rd anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung uprising is an opportunity to review the glorious tradition of the nation, express gratitude to the Trung sisters and our predecessors, and strongly arouse the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country. It will promote the will and strength of the great national unity combined with the strength of the era  and comprehensively boost national renewal, industrialization and modernization,” she said. 

The Acting President suggested that the Party Committee, authorities and people of Me Linh district, Hanoi, continue the tradition of patriotism, solidarity and resilience of the Trung sisters, join hands and strive to successfully fulfil the tasks of developing Hanoi Capital by 2030, with a vision to 2045; to build Hanoi into the development center of the Red River Delta, the northern key economic region and the whole country.
