This year’s event draws the largest number of participants ever with more than 10,000 athletes competing in 43 games to win 900 sets of medals.
Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourms and Head of the National Sports Games, said: “The National Sports Games has a very special meaning because it takes place in the same year as the Southeast Asian Games. It is tasked to select athletes for important tournaments such as the Asian Games next year and Olympics Paris in 2024. The Games will use modern equipment in swimming, athletics, and shooting.”
