The event was jointly held by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) and the Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations (VIFOTEC).
The annual award honors scientists who have done work of great scientific or socio-economic value which has been applied effectively in Vietnam.
It encourages the discovery or creation of scientific or technological work that improves the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods.
This year, out of 550 solutions from provinces, cities, ministries, and agencies nationwide, the organising board selected 5 first place, 11 second place, 23 third place, and 45 consolation prize winners.
The World Intellectual Property Organization presented a certificate and gold medal for the "Research, design, and manufacture of a device to suppress drones" to Colonel and Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang of the Academy of Military Engineering.
