4.4 billion USD to be allocated to support ethnic people

(VOVWORLD) - National target programs to support ethnic minority people have been implemented in 51 out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, Minister - Chairman of the Government Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs Hau A Lenh said at the National Assembly’s Q&A session on Tuesday.

He noted that 4.4 billion USD from the state budget will be allocated for these programs until 2025, in addition to other financial sources. Minister-Chairman Lenh underscored that ethnic minority affairs are a long-term and urgent strategic task of the Party and State.

“The Government has assigned the Health Ministry to revise regulations so that disadvantaged ethnic minority people will continue to enjoy health insurance paid by the State”, he noted.

Mr. Lenh said that measures will be taken to reduce the illiteracy rate among ethnic minority people which currently stands at 15%.
