Among the new domestic cases, 95 were in Ho Chi Minh city, 36 in Binh Duong, 15 in Bac Giang, 15 in Quang Ngai, 8 in Phu Yen, 7 in Hung Yen, 6 in Bac Ninh, 4 in Nghe An, 2 in Da Nang.
To date, Vietnam has documented 15,643, including 13,874 domestically-transmitted infections.
The Treatment Subcommittee of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Sunday confirmed one more death related to COVID-19, raising the national tally to 76.
The 53-year-old woman living in Binh Tan district, HCM City tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on Thursday. She was transferred to the Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital from the Binh Tan District Hospital in a comatose state.
However, her condition progressed rapidly and died Friday.
The cause of death was recorded as severe pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2, acute respiratory failure and septic shock.
