14 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed, Vietnam surpasses 1,000 infections

(VOVWORLD) - The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control reported that 14 new cases of COVID-19 infection were confirmed on Thursday, 2 of them were quarantined upon arrival in Vietnam. Of the 12 remaining cases, 11 are in Da Nang and 1 in Quang Nam province.

One case of COVID-19 infection reported in Hanoi on Thursday morning was removed from the infection list because of being tested negative to SARS-CoV-2 three times the same day. Acting Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said that this case, a 87-year old man man who came to Hanoi from Phu Tho province for a medical examination, has no epidemiological factors of returning from the epidemic areas or having contact with infected people. Long said more tests need to be conducted before confirming this case.

So far, Vietnam has counted 1,007 COVID-19 infections. 533 of those infected have fully recovered and 25 have died.
