Addressing a regular press briefing on Thursday, spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said in the context of tense developments in Ukraine, the Prime Minister has signed an official dispatch on the protection of Vietnamese citizens and legal entities in Ukraine.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son has held telephone conversations with his counterparts from Russia, Ukraine, and Romania and sent letter to the Polish Foreign Minister and met related countries’ Ambassadors in Vietnam asking for maximum protection of Vietnamese citizens’ security and safety while facilitating their evacuation home.

Six flights have been organized and some 1,200 Vietnamese have returned home safely. These efforts have received support and applause from overseas Vietnamese and those at home, she said.
