103 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to arrive in Vietnam by year's end

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam will receive more than 103 million COVID-19 vaccine doses by the end of this year, Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long has said.

So far, 27 million doses among in 34 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines that Vietnam have received, have been administered, Long said. The Ministry is discussing with vaccine suppliers to ensure vaccination for all population above 5 years old by 2022. 

Minister Long said Vietnam is accelerating imports of Remdesivir and other COVID-19 medicines to treat patients in critical conditions and reduce mortality rate. The Ministry of Health has asked pharmaceutical companies to import raw materials and actively produce treatment drugs to prepare for a long-term epidemic prevention and control strategy, Mr. Long said. The Ministry has launched a controlled treatment program in the community with 130,000 participants. Initial positive results have been confirmed.
