Vietnamese male football team wins gold at SEA Games 31

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam won 1-0 in the final against Thailand at the National My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi on May 22 to bring home men’s football gold medal at SEA Games 31.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat Vo Van Thuong present the gold medal in men's football to the Vietnamese U23 team at the 31st SEA Games .

Vietnamese U23 footballers sing the national anthem on the podium after receiving gold medal. In the first half, Thailand dominated the match and put great pressure on Vietnam’s goal, however, Vietnamese players firmly defended and kept a clean sheet. The first half ended in a goalless draw. In the second half, Coach Park Hang Seo sent Nham Manh Dung to the field, thus enabling U23 Vietnam to reclaim control and successfully set the pace of the game. Dung put Vietnam ahead in the 82nd minute with a powerful header that correctly hit the net of Thailand. The only goal secured a convincing victory for Park Hang-seo’s side and earned the Vietnamese men’s football team the SEA Games championship title. Here are some photos of the final:
