(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met a number of US and ASEAN leaders as well as leaders of international organisations during his May 11-17 working visit to the United States and the UN headquarters to garner support for Vietnam’s development goals.

He highly appreciates the Senate and Senator Patrick Leahy personally strengthening the bipartisan consensus in favour of the relations with Vietnam, as well as in cooperation with Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of the past war.

The two PMs agree to promote the exchange of high-level delegations and organize practical activities to mark 55 years of the Vietnam – Cambodia diplomacy and during the Friendship Year between the two counties in 2022.

Mohammed, deputy secretary-general of the United Nations, the PM said Vietnam is working hard to achieve the target of becoming an industrialised country with high income by 2045. It has high hopes for greater support from the UN, including in the implementation of the national digital transformation programme by 2025, with a vision towards 2030.
