Lang Son Geopark recognised as UNESCO Global Geopark

(VOVWORLD) - Lang Son Geopark of Vietnam has been recognised as a UNESCO Global Geopark by the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council.

Lang Son Geopark recognised as UNESCO Global Geopark - ảnh 1Lang Son Geopark spans 8 districts and cities, including  Bac Son, Chi Lang, Huu Lung, Loc Binh, Van Quan, and Lang Son city, covering a total area of 4,842 square kilometers with a population of nearly 627,000 people.
Lang Son Geopark recognised as UNESCO Global Geopark - ảnh 2Lang Son Geopark was set up in 2021 by Lang Son Province’s People’s Committee under the theme "Life Evolution in the Sacred Realms", which includes 38 tourist attractions across 4 travel routes.
Lang Son Geopark recognised as UNESCO Global Geopark - ảnh 3Lang Son Geopark showcases the harmonious beauty between nature and human.  It is one of the largest geoparks in Vietnam embracing valuable geological, geomorphological, and landscape features.

The geopark has many sites dedicated to the worship of deities within the Mother Goddess worshiping system, with Bắc Lệ Temple being the most prominent. It is also home to Tay and Nung ethnic villages, showcasing the beauty of their daily life, cuisine, and traditional clothing.

The recognition of Lang Son Geopark as a UNESCO Global Geopark will motivate and create opportunities for the province to focus more resources to enhance the management, conservation, and promotion of its geological, cultural, historical, archaeological and biodiversity heritage, as well as its unique landscapes.
