The non-profit event by Tohe Social Enterprise opened Sunday morning (March 28) at the Goethe Institute Hanoi to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day (April 2). The artworks reflect the pure world of autistic people that exists in parallel with our normal world. 6 sets of artworks by autistic students from Tohe’s special art class are on display. They are Lee Nguyen Sae Hae, Pham Duc Viet, Pham Khoi Nguyen, Nguyen Nhat Tien, Van Minh Duc, and Dinh Dang Long. The artworks are arranged as a series of interactive activities, images, and sounds to create an interesting experience for the audience. In the spotlight is Van Minh Duc’s “Stream”, which consists of 168 drawings that Duc selected from his collection of over 1,000 works. He created a stream color with the paintings flowing down from the top. Along with “Stream” is Dinh Thang Long’s “Always a millionaire”, which features hundreds of logos from television channels in Vietnam and the world that Long has watched. He considers them his “millionaire treasures” and wants to share them with the audience. “16-year-old grandpa” set of artworks by Vu Nhat Tien. “Counting sunflower seeds” by Pham Duc Viet. The exhibition provides the public with an opportunity to meet and better understand autistic people. Small flashcards with cute doodles and questions, some with incorrect grammar or vocabulary. The audience can interact by writing stories and greetings for the artists. A special corner with video clips and demonstrations for the audience to learn more about the world of autistic people.
