(VOVWORLD) - Summer is arriving in northern Vietnam as temperatures gradually climb up to over 30 degrees Celsius.

B: But the atmosphere seems hotter as people eagerly prepare for summer vacations. After two years of COVID-19restrictions, Vietnam has fully returned to normal.

A: Adults go to work and children go to school. Tourist destinations are as crowded as they were before the pandemic. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism reported that during the three-day Hung Kings holiday from April 9 to 11, the whole country served about 3 million domestic tourists.

B: The capital city of Hanoi welcomed about 200,000 vacationers, while Ho Chi Minh City greeted 250,000 tourists. Phu Tho province received over 550,000 and Da Nang city 78,000 visitors.

A: The upcoming four-day holiday from April 30 to May 3 to celebrate National Reunification Day and May Day will also see a huge number of travelers. Survey data on searches and bookings from April 15 to May 15 by the online booking travel agency Booking.com revealed that a majority of Vietnamese tourists prefer beaches and mountain resorts for their summer getaway.

B: Da Nang topped the list of most popular domestic destinations selected by Vietnamese tourists, followed by Da Lat, Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc.

A: According to the survey, Japan, the US, France, Thailand and Singapore are the top international destinations booked by Vietnamese for their upcoming trips. Meanwhile the countries with the highest number of bookings to Vietnam include Singapore, the US, Australia, the UK, and Indonesia.

B: The Global Google shows that searches by international tourists for flights and accommodation in Vietnam have doubled since Vietnam fully re-opened its borders to tourists in the middle of March. The top search keywords include “Vietnam tourist”, “Vietnam tourism”, “Vietnam trip”, “Vietnam travel”, “Vietnam tour package”, and “tourist visa Vietnam 2022”.

A: The upcoming SEA Games 31 in May is seen as a golden opportunity for Vietnam to attract a huge number of foreign tourists. Vietnam is scheduled to welcome over 7,000 athletes from 11 regional countries to compete in 526 events.

B: Vietnam has finalized all-round preparations for the Games, from stadiums, equipment, accommodations for athletes, and public transport and infrastructure. Many of our listeners expressed their interest in the event. Listeners from Thailand, Phichest Thongphom, Chalinan, Kasem Thangthong, say that the official song for SEA Games 31 “Let’s Shine” and its MV is really fantastic.

A: "Let's shine", written by musician Huy Tuan, was selected by the Organizing Committee for the 31st SEA Games as its official song. It talks about people who are born with a mission to reach the top. They surpass difficulties and hardshipsto conquernew records with extraordinary passion and energy. The lyrics say that together we shine in the jubilant, friendly atmosphere of the host country Vietnam.

B: The MV features Vietnam’s famous scenic spots such as the Nghinh Phong Tower in Phu Yen province, images of modernity and traditions combined in the myth of Lac Long Quan – Au Co, the legendary father and mother of Vietnamese people, green rice fields, mountains and forests, working people, and flags of the 11 ASEAN countries. 

B: This week we received an email from Mohammed Waheed of India. Mohammed said he started listening to VOV on the web recently and regularly and found the overseas broadcast interesting and informative with good coverage.

A: Another Indian listener Mr.M.S.Sreenivasa Raju said he listened to the English service via shortwave on a Ponda digital radio on the frequency of 12020 khz on April 24th. The reception was fair with SINPO rating at 34443.

A: Some of our listeners ask about the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, which is taking place until May 1st. From this year the annually Book Day will be observed at national scale as Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day to encourage the reading habit, contributing to building a learning society. It honours readers, authors, publishers, printers and libraries that make efforts to preserve, collect, and promote books.

B: All major cities and provinces andpublishing houses are introducing their printed and electronic publications, smart library models. The “Book Hour” is one of the most interesting events to encourage the habit of reading. It will be held online this Saturday as part of the ‘Book and Action’ project.

B: Attendees can read books anywhere and share their feelings with others. The organizers say that participants are encouraged to use the event’s hashtags “Books and Actions” and “Book Hour” and share their reading experiences on social media platforms to spread the word about reading culture.

A: The event is expected to serve as a reminder to everyone about the benefits of reading, as well as to promote self-improvement and spread positive energy to the community.

B: 'Books and Actions' is a non-profit project founded in 2013 with the goal of encouraging young Vietnamese people to read and take action in the community.The project has set up 192 book clubs at high schools and universities across the country.Each club provides 500-1,000 free book to students each year.
