(VOVWORLD) - Located in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, Lien Khuong Airport is designed in the shape of Da Quy, a wild sunflower.

Lien Khuong Airport is in Duc Trong district of Lam Dong province, 28 kilometers south of Da Lat. It is the air gateway to Da Lat, the capital city of the Central Highlands.

The Lien Khuong terminal is two storeys tall and spans a total area of 12,400 square metres. The airport can handle 1.5 to 2 million passengers annually. It expects to receive 2.5 million passengers per year by 2025.

The airport’s design is inspired by the Da Quy, a familiar flower on the Langbiang plateau. The unique terminal building won a national architecture award in 2010.

The terminal’s roof is designed to look like a flower petal.

The airport’s charming, dynamic design uses aluminum, steel, and glass.

A wide-open green space surrounds the airport.

Water fountains cool the air inside the airport.

The roof is made of steel and glass.

Stairs at the center of the airport connect the first and second floor.

Lien Khuong Airport has 18 check-in counters, nine for domestic routes and nine for international routes. The luggage carousel has a capacity of 800 bags per hour.

Souvenirs and fresh Da Lat flowers can be purchased in the terminal.

The airport recently put into operation a new runway that is 3,254 metres long and 45 metres wide. The runway can accommodate A320 and A321 aircraft.
